Dulcieth

Using my NC dragon's temperament as a template, I've put together a base personality for Dulcieth as I see her now. This may change as I get to know her better, but it will serve as a guideline while that happens.

Tiny Clouded Egg
One of the smallest in the clutch, this egg is easily lost among its larger neighbors. It is a pale beige in shade, with a wispy white non-pattern overlaid. Like clouds, though, shapes can be picked out by people who study it long enough, the interpretation a window to the personality of the observer.

Spearmint Green Hatchling
As if wrapped in a leaf of fresh mint, Dulcieth is an even shade of green over her whole body, fading to the more traditional mint green on her ridges and tailtip. Her wings are glassy spearmint, with the veins only slightly darker. When folded against her body the sails are invisible and the veins form a tessellation effect. She is small, even for a green, even for one newly hatched, yet the pure coloration of her velvety hide and the bright whirl of her eyes belie any notion of frailty on her part.

Temperament
Dulcieth is sweet, though not cloyingly so. She loves life, in all of its crazy unpredictability, and wants nothing more than to play with the world. Hypocrisy is a foreign concept to her, and the only times she loses her happy outlook are when she or her rider are in physically stressful or mentally distressed states. Even then, though, her hope shines through and she does her best to buoy both up.

As a dragonet, Dulcieth will be intensely there to the point of almost-pain. She senses her lifemate's distress at having impressed, and she realizes that most of it is an internalized manifestation of the prejudice many feel. She will compensate for that by being present, being unyielding to the point of inflexible, and to a lesser extent, trying to educate those whom she feels are part of the problem -- often through their dragons.

As she grows, and as Wendra begins to loosen the knot of the prejudice within, Dulcieth will ease off, no longer needing to be in the forefront, yet always there on some level, supportive and reassuring. She will treat the whole color thing with humor, along the lines of bringing out differences between golds and greens with ridiculously exaggerated scenarios, such as projecting an image of a goldrider taking days to bathe and oil her lifemate. Dulcieth herself will always be small and dainty, though without the fragility so often implied by those characteristics. Like her colorsake, a little bit of this dragon goes a long way.

It was mentioned before that Dulcieth is not cloying, but there will be one exception to that rule -- come mating time, she will be syrupy in her manner with the males. She will invite any and all to try her out, promising sweet rewards to those who can float to the top. In contrast, her manner with her rider will become sharp -- she doesn't want to be inhibited, and Wendra's terror of becoming pregnant is inconvenient, inasmuch as only one female has ever impressed a male dragon. While it may be that Pendarith is the cream of the crop, Dulcieth is not wont to throw the flight to him if he does not meet her high standards, and will resent any hint of that as a resolution. She will be working on heightened senses, and may infer that suggestion even when it's not what Wendra really means. Luckily Dulcieth is one of the greens with a relatively short proddy period.

Dulcieth will be all business when it comes to fighting thread. Her size will make her one of the most agile flyers, allowing her to turn on a mark and dart to clumps her male counterparts and even her larger green sisters couldn't hope to reach. She will need to pace herself, though, as she will have less-than-average endurance, even for a green. If not reigned in by her rider, she will tire far too quickly, putting undue stress on her replacement in the longer falls.

Public Impression Message
In the confusion, few on the Sands even notice that one of the greens has impressed a girl, who ushers her new lifemate out of the public gaze as quickly as she can manage it, though there's a ripple of interest from the nearest spectators.

Private Impression Message
On the sands it's hot and sticky, but suddenly a cool, soothing, feeling envelopes you. The spearmint green hatchling at your feet, the one who you somehow know is Dulcieth, cleanses and freshens by her presence alone.

Mindvoice
Dulcieth's mindvoice is a clear soprano, and like many (most?) dragons, she loves music. At the best of times she and her rider will be like an intricate song, the melody and harmony interchanging at times. Dissonance will be inevitable, but the best of composers can resolve it into breathtaking beauty, and Dulcieth could be a Master Harper on that score. Her compositions will tend to be airy and light, in accordance with her size.

Itchy Spots
Her extremities and ridges, those parts where her hide fades to the pale color more often associated with mint, will inexplicably be the places where the itches are most tenacious. It will often take several scritchings over the same place or more than one application of oil to soothe the frantic sensations.

Final size: 12 feet long

Dragon Inspiration: "Dulce" means "sweet" in Spanish, as in the dessert Dulce De Leche. "Dolce" means sweet in Italian and is used as a musical notation for "sweetly and softly". Mint is often associated with cool, clean freshness. All of these inspire aspects of Dulcieth's personality.

Egg Inspiration: Cloud-watching.

Dam: Gold Ashayath of gold Thereth (High Reaches) x bronze Haissoth (High Reaches)
Sire: Bronze Kayvoth of gold Felianth (Benden) x bronze Morelenth (Benden)
